As a dancer who loves to worship the Lord with all my heart, soul, mind
and strength, I pray that what I have to share in this devotional will
bless, inspire and encourage you to continue worshiping the Lord as
fervently as I have.
Devotion@work is unique because I share a collection of my sketches
that I have drawn over the years. These are sketches of worshipers
dancing before the Lord. Note in all the sketches there is a cross. This
represents the ONE which I still bear in this pioneering ministry.
Much of what I share with you comes from many testings, trials,
and experiences. As you read this devotional I hope that you will be
able to grasp the fact that God is no respecter of persons. He simply
desires a willing vessel.
Through my research of the Scriptures, I found many verses
validating the dance and the use of tambourines and banners. Here are
just a few:
- Worshiping with the dance, Psalm 149:3
Let them praise His name with the dance; Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp.
- Worshiping with the tambourine and the dance, Psalm 150:4
Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes!
- Worshiping with the banners, Isaiah 18:3
All the inhabitants of the world and dwellers on the earth: When he
lifts up a banner on the mountains, you see it; And when he blows a
trumpet you hear it.
About the Author/Artist (Aunty Magrate Yap)
Art, particularly figure drawing, came naturally to many in my class
at school, but not to me. Failure was not only my companion in the art
class, it was my constant ‘thorn’ for most subjects all through my
school years, and this included ballet. I did not fail ballet, but
neither did I excel in it.
This confession is shared with honest humility in the hope that you
will allow God to turn your liabilities into assets like He has done for
me. My lack turned into abundance, my failures into successes, my
handicaps into launching pads, and my mourning into dancing.
The transformation came soon after my born-again experience in 1983,
when I witnessed how God changed my husband overnight after he gave his
life to Him. I was amazed! All the years of religiously attending
church, Sunday school and youth fellowships did not prepare me for this
indescribable born again experience. I was overjoyed!
Throughout the years of serving Him, I know that my Redeemer lives! I am His.
This devotional is proof of God’s devotion@work in me.
You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness. Psalm 30:11
